Given that the DC Universe series of animated movies has been going on for ten years now, with multiple features released to video per year, how many films would you guess it’s amassed? The answer is thirty (including the upcoming Batman and Harley Quinn)….but where would newcomers start? Perhaps they can start with everything, now that the DC Universe Original Movies 10th Anniversary Collection is on the way.
Yes, every single DC movie under the banner* is included in this package, and they’re all Blu-Rays. In addition there will be an extra disc containing all five “DC Showcase” animated shorts, and a bonus disc of new special features, making 32 discs in all. Given that the collection was announced just a few hours ago, there are a few details we don’t have yet, like how much the entire set will cost (we doubt it will be cheap). The press release also mentions “exclusive collectible items,” so there may be physical bonuses inside yet to be revealed.
*The DC Universe label only applies to the PG-13-and-up features released in 2007 and beyond, so movies like Mask of the Phantasm, Batman and Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker are not included.
The DC Universe Original Movies 10th Anniversary Collection goes on sale November 7. Warners’ press release follows.
