Fresh off the announcement that he will be Captain Hook in the live stage version of “Peter Pan”, Christopher Walken is going for more Disney fare as it was announced that he will join the cast of the upcoming live action/CG hybrid “Jungle Book” remake as King Louie, the top banana of the jungle’s swinging orangutans. [The original Louie was based on and named for popular musician Louie Prima]. Also joining the cast will be Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, the leader of the wolf pack which adopts Mowgli [played by Neel Seethi in his first-ever acting role]. Walken joins a cast that includes Ben Kingsley [Bagheera], Idris Elba [Shere Khan], Scarlett Johansson [Kaa] and Lupita Nyong’o [Raksha].
“The Jungle Book” is currently scheduled to be released on October 9, 2015.
