Animated Shakespeare – To Be Or Not To Be?

by onJuly 30, 2014

Shakespuss lurched one step closer to bringing us animated versions of William Shakespeare’s works when the UK-based company received the US equivalent of $10,000 in a startup loan from a British government business incentive program. Shakespuss will use the money to fund animation programs aimed toward children to better acquaint them with the characters and stories of Shakespeare’s plays.

Shakespuss intends on having their first Shakespeare-oriented animated children’s production ready by December 2014.

  1. Hi everyone,

We at Shakespuss are very flattered to have been mentioned in dispatches here in the wonderful Toon Zone. Just wanted to make a little mention, more specifically about the video featured in the article.

That video was a very crudely thrown together animation I personally put together when trying out an Indiegogo concept well over a year ago. - It is not serious animation - and doesn't reflect the level of competency nor the look we shall be working with for the professional shows which we shall be pitching for every type of media outlet.

It was fun, and I love seeing drawings coming to life, but please don't judge us by this raw example.

Having said that, if there are any animation companies working around the Midlands who would like to play a part in what will undoubtedly become a major international brand, please don't hesitate to contact us on , there is still a lot we need to do, and the more help we get the better.

    Melissa
