Arrow – City Of Blood – Season 2, Episode 21

Everybody who is anybody attends Moira's funeral - except Oliver.

Everybody who is anybody attends Moira’s funeral – except Oliver.

Synopsis: Moira’s death brings everything out of the woodwork – Sebastian Blood’s mayoral plans, Laurel’s suspicion about Blood and Oliver outs himself to Blood while tussling with Slade a bit.

Details: The episode opens with everybody – minus Oliver, Roy and Slade – assembled for Moira’s funeral interspersed with scenes of Seb Blood taking the mayoral oath of office. Afterward, everybody understandably is openly wondering where Oliver has run off to until Diggle and Felicity have Amanda Waller track him down in his “other” lair – what looks like an abandoned office space – where he goes to have some alone time.

Meanwhile, Laurel has suspected nefarious motives from Seb Blood all along, finally digs up some proof that he knew Moira was going to die before Moira knew she was going to die and Isabel Rochev [Summer Glau] ties up a loose end by officially taking Club Verdant from Thea.

In flashback mode, the entire episode is spent back on the island detailing how, with the help of the Russian, Anatoly, they commandeer the Japanese submarine and Oliver attempts to get off the island with Sara… before Slade can thwart their plans.

Now that Oliver has been found, a few minutes of screen time is devoted to his spiel of offering himself up to Slade to save the rest of the people close to him as well as the remainder of Starling City who does not know he is Arrow [and even those 19 who don’t] and he officially endorses Thea’s idea to leave the city. But on his way to give himself up to Slade, he is hit by a dart in the neck filled with sleepytime tea [likely from Amanda Waller’s peeps] and wakes up in the real Arrow Lair with Laurel fessing up that she knows he is Arrow and spilling the beans about Seb Blood ‘s prior knowledge of Moira’s death.

Slade Wilson's mirakuru mutant army is on the move.

Slade Wilson’s mirakuru mutant army is on the move.

Diggle and Felicity blackmail Seb Blood’s bodyguard into divulging details about the upcoming invasion of the city by Slade’s mirakuru mutant army, allowing Team Arrow to pre-plan their strategy of blowing up a building to crush the army while they prepare to attack.

The scenario roundup – yeehaw! – begins with Thea leaving Starling City followed by Team Arrow getting ready to blow up the mirakuru mutants until Arrow is sidetracked by Slade who almost kills him before Laurel temporarily distracts him long enough for Arrow to fire an exploding arrow at him – however, they miss their opportunity to destroy the mirakuru mutant army – while in flashback mode, the sub escape seems to be a success until it sounds like Sara has been captured by Slade.

Arrow briefly tussles with Slade Wilson.

The Poop and Skinny: Moira – played by Susanna Thompson – is now freed up to pursue other career options.

Seb Blood becomes the 525th person in Starling City to know that Oliver’s “secret” identity is Arrow.

Unsurprisingly, the big showdown begins with Slade’s Seb Blood-led army of mirakuru mutants facing off against Team Arrow while Thea meets up with Malcolm Merlyn in the next episode entitled “Streets of Fire” on May 7.

Burning question for the next episode of “Arrow” – Are we completely rid of Thea or will this be drawn out through Season Three?

As always – it is important to remember that, at any juncture where the situation appears to be dire for Arrow/Oliver and his very life may be in danger – there would be no more show [and therefore no more money to be made] if he were to die. You continue to be welcome.
