The classic children’s book, “The Story of Ferdinand” is heading to the big screen in animated form with Carlos Saldanha at the helm. Saldanha, the director of films in the “Ice Age” and Rio” franchises has expressed his desire to direct the film based on the one of his childhood favorites. The book by Munro Leaf tells the story of Ferdinand, a bull in Spain who would much rather sit in a meadow smelling flowers rather than participate in the bullfights expected of him. Disney made an Academy Award-winning eight-minute animated short of the book in 1938 so this will be the first full-length feature adaptation.
“The Story of Ferdinand” is currently scheduled to be released on April 7, 2017.
