Sony Finds Director For Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune

Three years after having lined up director David O. Russell [“American Hustle”] along with actor Mark Wahlberg in the lead role for the feature film version of the popular Naughty Dog video game “Uncharted”, Sony has instead lined up director Seth Gordon [“Identity Thief”] for the revamped version but the lead role of Nathan Drake, a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake who goes in search of the famed South American treasure city of El Dorado, remains unfilled. Russell and Wahlberg had been originally attached to the potential film in 2011 but when Russell turned in a lengthy script that would have included major characters not in the video game, Sony politely declined and re-opened the search for a new script and director.

“Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” is expected to have a 2016 release date.
