Shout! Factory Lands Distribution Rights to "Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart"
Shout! Factory has acquired U.S. and Canadian distribution rights to EuropaCorp’s Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart. The film, directed by co-directed Mathias Malzieu and Stephane Berla and adapted by Malzieu from his novel, screened at the recent Berlin International Film Festival and is currently in the middle of a theatrical run in France. Malzieu also provides the voice of the title character, whose heart was replaced by a clock when he was born and must avoid feeling strong emotions, especially falling in love.
Shout! plans a 2014 rollout to selected theaters, as well as through video-on-demand, electronic sell-through, broadcast, and in packaged media. Shout! and EuropaCorp’s prior collaboration was the release of A Monster in Paris.

Edinburgh, late 19th century. Little Jack is born on a day so cold that his heart remains frozen.
Dr. Madeleine saves his life by inserting a cuckoo clock in place of his defective heart. It will work, she warns him, as long as Jack observes three golden rules. The moment Jack sets eyes on a young girl singing on a street corner, the hands of his clock-heart begin to race. Desperate to find her again, Jack launches himself into a romantic quest that will lead him from the lochs of Scotland, to the city of Paris and all the way to Andalusia…
