"Frozen" Box Office Approaches $1 Billion Worldwide
Disney’s Frozen is closing in on $1 billion in ticket sales worldwide, with $5.8 million in domestic ticket sales and another $18.2 million from foreign markets bringing its cumulative total to date to $955.7 million. The total puts it right behind Toy Story 3 (just over $1 billion) and Despicable Me 2 ($970.76 million), making it the most successful original (non-sequel) animated feature film in history (although Disney’s The Lion King has earned $987.5 million including re-releases since its premiere). The Hollywood Reporter also notes that Frozen has become the second most-watched foreign film in South Korea this past weekend, right after James Cameron’s Avatar.
In a related story, the Stitch Kingdom website is hosting an exclusive video clip of a deleted scene from Frozen, which will appear on the upcoming home video release of the movie.
