CW rolled out Grant Gustin as the young Flash coming from Central City as an assistant forensic scientist earlier this season on its “Arrow” television series, then after a couple of appearances, put him in a coma until he awakens from his CW-induced coma and reappears a few weeks from now in an “Arrow” episode. All that is a precursor for the pilot episode of the newly reimagined “Flash” television series spinoff. Gustin will star in that and CW announced that for the pilot episode, they will bring back John Wesley Shipp, the actor who played the Flash in the original television treatment of the superhero from 1990-91 on CBS. Shipp’s role has either not been determined or not been announced but he may play the role of Jay Garrick – the original Flash before Barry Allen’s alternate world/parallel universe Flash character appeared.
“The Flash” pilot episode is expected to air this summer with a possible series order for 2015.
