Canadian Animators and Broadcasters Seeking UK Partners (and Tax Breaks)
The Hollywood Reporter notes a trip by several Canadian animation studios and broadcasters to the United Kingdom, seeking opportunities for co-productions that can take advantage of British animation skills, creativity, and newly implemented tax breaks for high-end TV and animated productions. Animation studios making the trip include Atomic Cartoons, Big Bad Boo, DHX Media, Eaglecliff Entertainment, Eh-Okay Entertainment, and Nerd Corps Entertainment (and others), with Canadian broadcasters including Knowledge Network/BBC Kids, and Corus Entertainment, and it is expected that they will be meeting with CBBC, ITV, Disney, Channel Five, Nickelodeon UK and Turner Broadcasting. The special British Columbia/U.K. Trade Forum in London and Manchester will run from February 25-27, 2014.
