Disney's "Frozen" Takes #1 at Box Office in 2nd Week, Sets Post-Thanksgiving Record
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen saw continued success during its second week at the box office, grossing a total of $31.6 million to seize first place from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and its $27 million gross. The film has now earned a total of $134.3 million domestically in the United States and an estimated worldwide gross of over $190 million.
With this box office performance Frozen continues to track ahead of Pixar’s Toy Story 2 and 2010’s Tangled, setting a new record for earnings during the post-Thanksgiving weekend by surpassing Toy Story 2‘s $27.8 million and Tangled‘s total of $21.6 million. Frozen is also the first animated film to rise to first place in its second week since Tangled was in theaters.
