Numbers Looking Good For Animation Networks
As the Magic 8-Ball might say – all signs point to “yes!” – when deciphering the recent viewership numerals for the six major networks showing animation as either their primary programming or a sizable chunk. According to census figures, children ages 2-11 make up 39.3 million of the American population and Disney leads the way, attracting the majority of those viewers – or their parents – with 1.79 million in all-day programming viewers for the recently completed third quarter of 2013 [which includes summer]. Nickelodeon follows closely behind with 1.76 million and Cartoon Network comes in with 1.06 million. Both Disney’s and Nick’s numbers represent an increase while Cartoon Network’s numeral is a decrease.
Prime-time programming had Disney as the clear leader with 2.5 million viewers while NickToons and TeenNick combined for just over a half million behind Disney.
