Show on the road … Mattel's in-house studio Playtime Productions will take charge of the Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels: A Fast And Furious For Kids?

hot1

Legendary Pictures has partnered with Mattel to produce a movie based on the toymaker’s Hot Wheels line of toy cars that is expected to be marketed toward the young male demographic – possibly the same demographic who have been attracted to the wildly popular “Fast and Furious” film franchise. Although no plot or cast have been announced for the film, there is a director [Simon Crane – a longtime stunt coordinator for a bevy of major action films and second unit director for “World War Z”] and a screenplay writer [Paul Attanasio – “Donnie Brasco”] which indicates there will be plenty of stunts and possibly an underworld bad-guy tone.

The live action film will be produced by Mattel’s in-house production company and is expected to have a release date in 2015 or 2016.
