DreamWorks Animation recently released the official trailer for its upcoming 2014 movie Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King) with a screenplay from Craig Wright and music by Danny Elfman, the film is an adventure comedy inspired by Ted Key’s “Peabody’s Improbable History” segments on The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, where the brilliant talking dog Mr. Peabody and the young boy Sherman would time travel to the past and visit important historical figures and places. The movie will be preceded by a Rocky and Bullwinkle theatrical short directed by Gary Trousdale (Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Atlantis: The Lost Empire).
In addition to the trailer, DreamWorks released a synopsis for the movie:
Mr. Peabody (voiced by Ty Burrell) is a business titan, inventor, scientist, Nobel Laureate, gourmand, two-time Olympic medalist, and genius… who also happens to be a dog. Using his most ingenious invention, the WABAC machine, Mr. Peabody and his adopted boy Sherman (Max Charles) hurtle back in time to experience world-changing events first-hand and interact with some of the greatest characters of all time. But when Sherman breaks the rules of time travel, our two heroes find themselves in a race to repair history and save the future, while Mr. Peabody may face his biggest challenge yet – being a parent.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman is scheduled to debut in U.S. theaters on March 7th, 2014, while the UK will receive the theatrical premiere a month earlier on February 7th, 2014.
