NY Times on the Troubled Production of "Foodfight!"

The New York Times has analyzed the troubled rise and eventual fall of Foodfight!, a CGI animated movie that promised an all-star cast and a plot that would do for licensed advertising characters what Toy Story did for toys, only to face interminable delays before a quiet direct-to-video release this past May. Among other topics, the article covers the ambitions of the film’s producer and director Larry Kasanoff (who produced James Cameron’s True Lies), the idiosyncratic approach to the movie which was taken at first, the ill-fated changes to a mocap-driven animation style, and the delays from the movie’s announcement in 2000 to the business maneuvering that led to the film’s rushed completion and release.
