Disney had originally slated to have its “Phineas and Ferb”-based feature film debut last month. But that was before they purchased the Star Wars empire from George Lucas for four billion American dollars. Then Michael Arndt – who won an Academy Award for writing “Little Miss Sunshine” and was nominated for an Oscar for “Toy Story 3” – who was slated to write the screenplay for the P&F movie, was recruited to write the screenplay for the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode VII” film [release date: 2015]. That pushed it back to a July 2014 date. Now, with Arndt working on a Star Wars screenplay that is rumored to see the iconic returns of Obi Wan Kenobi as well as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, Disney has pulled off the P&F film from the release calendar completely.
Disney has not announced if Arndt will continue to script the P&F movie or if it will go with another writer for a possible late 2014 or 2015 release.
