Adult Swim Is Aware Of Animation Domination
Just in case you weren’t paying attention, there is a new animated kid on the block – Fox’s Animation Domination HD – which is beginning a block of animation headlined by “Axe Cop” [a former web comic] and “High School USA” [which may or may not be Archie-based, you decide, if you must]. Longtime Cartoon Network denizen, Adult Swim, proprietors of too many animated series to mention in one paragraph, is paying attention…and posted ads during the launch of the new Fox shows last week. The ads were made in typical Adult Swim format – small white type on black background with elevator-style music – and made a Talking Heads reference before moving on…
The first of the two ads which followed “Axe Cop” and “High School USA” premieres in some local markets went…“The preceding content has been a work of fiction. Any resemblance to networks, living or dead, is purely coincidental. Pay close attention to the label. Many suitcases look alike. You may find yourself at a beautiful network with a beautiful suitcase. You may ask yourself: How did I get here? [adult swim]” – while the second went thusly….: “Congratulations to the crew at ADHD on the launch of their new shows. We wish you all the best…. Nice place you got here… How are the kids?… Great, Great stuff. We’re going to go home now [adult swim].”
Fox’s ADHD is headed by a former Adult Swim director and their response, via Twitter, was the rather lame and stagnant comeback “thanks for your money” – which is essentially admitting that they had no comeback and therefore, no creativity.
