SDCC2013: Comic-Con 2013 Day One Recap: Godzilla, Spider-Man and Dragons
Oh no, there goes Tokyo, go, go Godzilla! Day One of Comic-Con 2013 is in the books in San Diego and it began with the Godzilla Encounter – a pseudo theme park attraction from Legendary Entertainment, whose reboot of the “Godzilla” film franchise is due to be released on May 16, 2014. The attraction gives fans the “experience” of undergoing a Godzilla attack in the Gaslamp Quarter.
Sony unveiled a sneak peek clip of Jamie Foxx as the villain Electro in the upcoming “Spider-Man 2” film and announced they will produce “Go Fast” a film that is described as a “Fast and Furious” for boats focusing on DEA agents chasing down drug smugglers.
Dreamworks Animation announced that Cate Blanchett, Djimon Hounsou and Kit Harington will join the voice cast for “How To Train Your Dragon 2”.
Summit Entertainment released a sneak peek into next year’s film “Divergent” starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Kate Winslet in a future world where youths are placed in one of five groups determined by genetic traits and forced into a free-for-all battle with a “Hunger Games” vibe.
Fresh off their “Sharknado” killing, SyFy announced they will have Billy Campbell (“The Rocketeer”) in the lead role of a disturbed pathologist in their upcoming “Helix” television series.
Finally, “Dexter” gave a fond farewell panel with star Michael C. Hall presiding as the popular Showtime series ends this year with its eighth and final season. The DVD and Blu-ray of the final season is scheduled to be released on November 5, 2013.
