Microsoft touted their new Xbox One gaming console last month and proceeded to annoy the core gaming audience with their focus on non-gaming entertainment features but at least partially made up for that today with their release of new video games available only on the Xbox One at the Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3] in Los Angeles.
Those titles included “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain”, which features Kiefer Sutherland as the voice of Snake and promised “stealth action” and “tactical espionage” while “Ryse: Son of Rome” takes you back in time to the Roman Empire for battles against various heathen hordes. What have the Romans ever done for us? Given us a good many battles to portray in video games! A video gaming conference wouldn’t be a true video gaming conference without at least one game featuring zombies and today’s zombie product is “Dead Rising 3” where you play the character of Nick and Nick is allowed to run over zombies with his car in a sort of zombie demolition derby. “Titanfall” is a game featuring frequent gun battles between mechanized robots – and not much can go wrong with that concept week when it comes to entertaining young males.
Some other Xbox One-only games announced today were fantasy title “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, a new “Halo” first person shooter for spring 2014, “Sunset Overdrive” [FPS], “Project Spark” [world building game], a remake of “Killer Instinct”, a dragon smackdown game in “Crimson Dragon”, “Below”, “Black Tusk” and murder mystery game “D4”.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo is held at the Convention Center in Los Angeles from June 11-13, 2013.
