Coming up to its third week of domestic release, “Iron Man 3”, starring Robert Downey, Jr. as the billionaire/superhero Stark, is poised to make a billion dollars in worldwide gross by the time movie theaters close across the globe today – making it the 16th-biggest film of all-time and projected to be in the top five. Domestic gross is currently at $295 million with international gross coming in currently at $686 million.
When adjusted for inflation, “Iron Man 3” currently sits at #185 all-time [according to Box Office Mojo], having already surpassed “Inception”, one “Harry Potter” and two “Twilight” movies. The top-moneymaking movie of all-time – when adjusted for inflation – is 1939’s “Gone With The Wind” followed closely by “Star Wars”.
