So, what’s the first thing you see at Anime Boston 2013? Bag checks. I suppose it was only a matter of time, but it’s still sad to see all the same. All things considered it’s not really that big a deal, but it is annoying as this makes getting into the convention take a lot longer. I guess this is the new normal, at least in Boston for this year. But, at the same time, this is still Anime Boston! So it’ still awesome. Now awesomeness does come in different forms, but none of them include your bag getting loaded onto the wrong plane or having to spend 30 bucks on a cab fare to your hotel afterwards. It does include simply being at the Con and sitting in a panel room at 11:30 on a Friday morning. Name me another major convention where you can do that. You won’t find one, or at least one that’s actually fun. I kinda doubt a real estate seminar would be as invigorating.
As always, we’re in the Hynes Convention center and the attached Sheraton. There’s something quite comforting about coming back to familiar surroundings year after year and seeing old friends again, and new ones too for that matter. Hey Ben! Wish I could say the same for the weather, but it’s not like anyone actually has to go outside since the convention center is directly attached to the Prudential Center Mall and several of the main hotels. So cold rain be damned, and dammed also so it doesn’t flood the streets. Well, with a little luck things will continue on an upswing from here.
