Next year when you tune in to the Academy Award broadcast to see if Seth MacFarlane is back as host with another boob song or Tina Fey And Amy Poehler have replaced him and use their comedic charm to annoy another segment of the thin-skinned film industry elite, you will be watching it one week later than you did this year – all the way in the month of March! – due to the 2014 Winter Olympics being held in Sochi, Russia in most of February. The Winter Olympics are currently scheduled to run from February 7-23 and the closing ceremonies would then compete with the Oscar telecast on the 23rd if the Academy kept the final Sunday of February as their air date. The Academy has decided to move the date since the Russians probably have a closing ceremony show featuring a giant bowl of borscht surrounded by dancing babushkas and quite possibly a song about boobs.
The 2014 Academy Award show is expected to be moved to March and televised on March 2, 2014.
