DreamWorks Animation Reports $83M Loss for 2012 4th Quarter; Confirms Upcoming Layoffs

DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc., reported a Q4 2012 loss of $83 million (98 cents per share) on revenues of $265 million, due to disappointing performance of Rise of the Guardians and a one-time charge of $54 million to return Me and My Shadow to development. During a conference call discussing DreamWorks’ quarterly results, CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg confirmed that there will be layoffs in the company, primarily in the production division, but did not say how many would lose their jobs.
