Tezuka Productions Goes Forward With Second "Buddha" Anime Film
During a press conference on January 25th, Tezuka Productions President Takayuki Matsutani announced that the second part of the Buddha film trilogy would enter production this year. The films are inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s Buddha manga, which mixed supernatural elements with historical fact to depict the young Prince Siddhartha’s personal journey to ultimately become Gautama Buddha and founder of the Buddhist religion. This news follows a long period of silence since the first movie Buddha: The Great Departure was released theatrically and on home video in Japan in 2011.
