Studio Ghibli Announces Hayao Miyazaki's "Kaze Tachinu" and Isao Takahata's "Kaguya-hime no Monogatari" Features for Summer 2013
Crunchyroll relays Studio Ghibli’s traditional December 13 announcement of new films this year, with both studio founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata slated to release films in the same season (the first time since the double-bill of My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies). Miyazaki’s feature is Kaze Tachinu, based on Miyazaki’s manga and Tatsuo Hori’s novel of the same title, which will explore the life of Jirō Horikoshi, the designer of Japan’s Zero fighter plane. Takahata’s film will be Kaguya-hime no Monogatari, a retelling of a 10th century Japanese folktale Taketori Monogatari (Tale of the Bamboo Cutter) about the moon princess Kaguya-hime, who was discovered as a baby in the stalk of a bamboo plant. Both features are scheduled for release in the summer of 2013.
