Relativity and Reel FX Date Animated Comedy Turkeys for

November 14, 2014

Studio Also Shifts Safe Haven to Valentine’s Day 2013

(Beverly Hills, Calif.) November 15, 2012 – Relativity Media and Reel FX announced today that they have dated the upcoming animated comedy Turkeys, helmed by Jimmy Hayward, director of box office hit Horton Hears A Who! and animator on such films as Disney/Pixar’s Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. The film is jointly produced and financed by Relativity and Reel FX and is now set for theatrical release on November 14, 2014. Relativity has also announced that it has set the release date of Safe Haven, based on the best-selling novel from internationally-known author Nicholas Sparks (The Notebook, Dear John) and directed by Oscar® and DGA-nominee Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules), by a few days next year to coincide with Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013.
Turkeys stars the voice talent of Owen Wilson, who previously voiced Lightning McQueen in Disney Pixar’s Cars, Woody Harrelson from The Hunger Games and Dan Fogler, who previously voiced Zeng in Dreamworks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda. Producing are Scott Mosier (Clerks), Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II), John Strauss (The Santa Claus 2) and David l. Stern (Hotel Transylvania).  The screenplay was written by Stern and Strauss, with a rewrite by Mazin. The film will be distributed worldwide by Relativity.
Turkeys is an irreverent, hilarious, adventurous buddy comedy where two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the menu for good.
Reel FX is a fully-integrated movie studio that develops and produces both animated films and live action movies. In addition to Turkeys, Reel FX’s growing animation slate includes Day of the Dead (Guillermo del Toro producing) and Beasts of Burden (Aron Warner and Andrew Adamson producing).  Reel FX’s own film slate follows almost 20 years of experience as an award-winning one-stop studio for animated content including films, special attraction/live venue projects and interactive projects for companies like DreamWorks Animation, Fox, Warner Bros. and Universal Studios.
Safe Haven, based on internationally-known author Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling novel, stars Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Life As We Know It), Julianne Hough (Rock of Ages, Footloose), David Lyons (Apocalypse, Sea Patrol) and Cobie Smulders (The Avengers, How I Met Your Mother). The film will now open in theatres nationwide on February 14, 2013.
Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2) and Wyck Godfrey (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2) produced the film alongside Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter). Sparks, who recently launched his production company, Nicholas Sparks Productions, also served as producer. Relativity’s President Tucker Tooley (The Fighter) served as executive producer.
Safe Haven is an affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to find love again after she arrives in a small North Carolina town. Her reluctance to join the tight-knit community raises questions about her past.  Slowly, she begins putting down roots and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children.  But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.
Up next, Relativity will release the outrageous ensemble comedy Movie 43 (in theatres January 25, 2013), the comedy 21 and Over (in theatres March 1, 2013) and the corporate espionage thriller Paranoia (in theatres October 4, 2013). Relativity is currently in post-production on Scott Cooper’s gritty dramatic thriller currently-titled Out of the Furnace and Luc Besson’s comedic action film Malavita (October 18, 2013) with EuropaCorp.
