Doris Belack, Actor, 1926 - 2011

Actor Doris Belack passed away last Tuesday in New York City at the age of 85. The veteran stage and television actor may be best recognized as Rita Marshall, the acerbic soap opera producer in the movie Tootsie who unwittingly casts a disguised Dustin Hoffman for a woman’s role, and as the semi-recurring Judge Margaret Barry in the Law & Order TV series and its spin-offs. Later in her career, she also took several voice acting roles, including “Mayor Tippi Dink” in Disney’s Doug and roles in the video games True Crime: New York City and Grand Theft Auto IV.
