SDCC2011: Conan O'Brien Crashes "Green Lantern: The Animated Series" Panel

At the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, Bruce Timm showed a special reel of footage during the panel scheduled for Green Lantern: The Animated Series. It was a special CG-animated trailer for The Flaming C, the oven-mitt sporting superhero Bruce Timm drew and co-created with late night comedy talk show host Conan O’Brien when O’Brien visited Warner Bros. Animation. O’Brien entertained an extremely elated and appreciative crowd, mentioning this was his first trip to San Diego Comic-Con. A special art exhibit was also being promoted in the Gaslamp Quarter featuring artwork of The Flaming C. O’Brien joked that the animated Flaming C movie trailer cost a budget of $26 million, and that a full-length movie would cost upwards of hundreds of millions more and put it out to fans that Timm and O’Brien were looking for people to finance the movie. Timm and O’Brien also joked that Timm has foregone any money or profits made off of The Flaming C. Fans in the audience suggested villains for the potential animated spectacular: “The Chin” and “The Lenonator.” O’Brien laughed it off and commented that the fans were more bitter about his Tonight Show gig than he was and that he had “moved on.”
