Surviving Monty Python Members Team for Animated Film about Graham Chapman
The New York Times reports that the surviving members of Monty Python (minus Eric Idle) are working on an animated adaptation of the late Graham Chapman’s autobiographical memoir A Liar’s Autobiography: Volume VI. Chapman’s dialogue will be provided from a recording he made reading the book for musician Harry Nilsson, with John Cleese, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, and Terry Gilliam performing other roles. The film will be made by 15 animation companies working on chapters ranging from 3-12 minutes in length; according to co-producer Jeff Simpson, the different visual styles of each chapter will reflect different phases in Chapman’s life in addition to saving time.
The movie is scheduled for theatrical release in the United Kingdom next spring, with premieres on TV and online services in the United States.
