Will Ferrell and "MegaMind" Set New Guinness World Record at LA Live
On October 2, 2010, at the LA Live Plaza, DreamWorks Animation and Paramount hosted an event to break the Guinness World Record of Largest Gathering of Superheroes. The event marked the start of MegaMonth which is an official month dedicated to various Mega-events all across the country in order to promote the new DreamWorks Animation movie, MegaMind.
Over 1,500 fans and even reporters dressed in various superhero or comic book themed costumes in order to break the new record. The LA Live Plaza was carpeted in blue and there were various MegaMind themed balloons, blue breakfast foods and desserts, and various games and activities. When it came time for the official ceremony, a new trailer and clip was played for the MegaMind movie. Jeffrey Katzenberg then joined the ceremony and introduced Mark McGrath, the director of the movie. Katzenberg and McGrath then introduced star and voice of the title character, Will Ferrell, as well as MegaMind himself, given an elaborate entrance complete with cheerleaders and flying streamers. Will Ferrell and Guinness World Records US Spokesperson, Stuart E. F. Claxton, then announced that the new world record of Largest Gather of Superheroes was set by the event.
MegaMind will be released by Paramount Pictures in theatres in 3D and IMAX on November 5, 2010.
