"Toy Story 3" Bombs in Russia

Toy Story 3 is a hit in the United States and most international territories, but it’s a bomb in Russia, the Los Angeles Times reports.

In its first ten days in release the Pixar feature took in less than $5 million at Russian box offices. That compares to the $38 million that Shrek Forever After grossed in its first ten days and the $35 million collected by Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

The newspaper speculates that adult audiences—for whom this threequeal is the first serious exposure to the Toy Story universe—are put off by the kid-centric subject matter, while children have been bustled out of the metropolitan areas due to a recent heat wave.
