Warner Home Video Announces "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse" DTV for Sept 28, 2010
Warner Home Video has issued the official press release announcing Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, the next DC Comics direct-to-video animated movie slated for release on September 28, 2010. The movie will be based on the Superman/Batman: Supergirl graphic novel by Jeph Loeb, Michael Turner, and Peter Steigerwald, and will pit the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel against Darkseid, the lord of Apokolips, for the heart and soul of Kara, a newly arrived Kryptonian cousin of Superman.
Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly will reprise their roles as Batman and Superman, respectively, and Ed Asner (Up) will return as Apokolips’ Granny Goodness. New cast members include Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age) as Darkseid and Summer Glau (Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Kara/Supergirl. The movie will be directed by Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern: First Flight) and produced by Bruce Timm (Come on, if you’re still reading this, you know who he is).
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse will come on DVD and Blu-ray disc, with the new DC Showcase short film “Green Arrow,” that will follow DC Comics’ Emerald Archer protecting the 10-year old Princess of Vlatava from Merlyn the Magnificent and the League of Assassins. The short was written by Greg Weisman (Spectacular Spider-Man, Young Justice) and will feature the voices of Neal McDonough (Desperate Housewives) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Entourage). Timm executive produces.
