Nickelodeon Dominates Animated Daytime Emmys
Nickelodeon dominated the animation categories at the 37th Annul Daytime Emmys last weekend, taking the honors in eight categories and winning eleven prizes overall. Nickelodeon also scored its wins with a wide range of programming rather than with a dominant series.
SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar each took only one trophy, but the trophy they shared was that for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program. PBS’s Curious George was named Outstanding Children’s Animated Program.
Multiple wins went to Fanboy and Chum Chum (Direction in an Animated Program, Background Layout Design, and Character Design); The Fairly Oddparents (Storyboard and Sound Mixing); and The Wonder Pets! (Music Direction and Original Song). The Wonder Pets! also took a related trophy with Eartha Kitt’s win as Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program.
Willa’s Wildlife was honored for its art direction. Back at the Barnyard and Disney Channel’s Phineas and Ferb split the Outstanding Writing prize.
