2010 British Animation Award Winners Announced

The winners of the 2010 British Animation Awards have been announced. Amongst them are Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom (Best Preschool Series), Lost and Found (Best Animated Special) and Yellow Belly End (Best Student Film). The Black Dog’s Progress picked up awards for both Best Short and Best Sound.

Aardman Animations earned two awards on the night, with Shaun the Sheep taking Best Children’s Series and Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death being picked as the Children’s Choice.

Best European Feature, the only award covering work from outside the UK, went to The Secret of Kells. Other winners include the intro to The Beatles Rock Band (Best Commissioned Animation), the Unboxed commercial for Audi Q5 (Best Commercial: Direction and Best Commercial: Craft), The Violent Highway (Best Applied Animation), the Robin title sequence for the Holland Animation Film Festival (Best Film/TV Graphics) and Flogging Molly’s Float (Best Music Video).

Public choice awards were also handed out, with audiences naming This Way Up as the best short, the Mousetrap commercial for Cadbury’s Creme Egg as best advert and Rex the Dog’s Bubbilicious as best music video.

A “best of” DVD tying in with the event is set to be released.
