Nickelodeon is Buzzing with New Episodes of The Mighty B!

Five New Episodes of Animated Comedy Created by Amy Poehler

And Nick Veterans Cynthia True and Erik Wiese Will Premiere Each Weekday Beginning Sept. 21

Burbank, Calif. – Sept. 11, 2009 – Nickelodeon, the top producer of television animation in the US, will premiere all-new episodes of the hit animated series The Mighty B! weekdays at 5:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25. The half-hour series is created by Emmy-nominated comedian Amy Poehler and executive producers/Nickelodeon animation veterans Cynthia True and Erik Wiese. Set in San Francisco, the series follows the adventures of Bessie Higgenbottom (voiced by Poehler), a proud Honeybee troop member as she strives to pursue her goals of obtaining all of the Honeybee badges so she may become the mysterious superhero, The Mighty Bee.
“Get ready for double the action, triple the adventures and quadruple the awesomeness,” said Poehler.
The Mighty B!, which premiered April 2008, was number-one in its time period in third quarter of 2009 with kids 2-11 and kids 6-11 and averaged 2.6 million total viewers (Source: Nielsen Media Research, Live + 7 Day data through 8/23/09, Live + Same Day data through 9/6/09).
Bessie is the world’s most ambitious and loveably unhinged 9 ¾-year-old member of the Honeybee troop for girls. As a member of the Honeybees, Bessie wears her uniform every single day, leads her troop with a zeal General Patton would have admired and has earned more badges than any other Honeybee in history. Bessie is sometimes accompanied on her adventures by her ever-loyal younger brother Benjamin (voiced by Andy Richter), her very opinionated and somewhat reluctant dog Happy (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker), one of her closest pals, her imaginary friend Finger and Rocky Rhodes (voiced by Kenan Thompson), the cool, older skater kid who works part-time at the counter at Bessie’s mother’s eatery, Hilary’s Café.

Co-Creator, Executive Producer and voice of Bessie Higgenbottom, Amy Poehler currently stars in NBC’s Parks and Recreation. She was a cast member on Saturday Night Live for eight seasons; which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2009. Poehler has starred in numerous feature films, including the comedy Baby Mama opposite Tina Fey, the animated film Horton Hears a Who! with Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell, Blades of Glory alongside Will Ferrell and Will Arnett and the box office hit Shrek the Third as “Snow White.”

Co-Creator, Executive Producer and Story Editor Cynthia True has written for a number of shows, including Nickelodeon’s Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and My Life as a Teenage Robot; The N’s O’Grady and WB’s Johnny Test. She was also a staff writer for Nickelodeon’s The Fairly OddParents. True is formerly a journalist (Time Out NY, Rolling Stone, Texas Monthly, Harper’s Bazaar) and is the author of American Scream: The Bills Hicks Story (Harper Collins and Macmillan UK), now in its 7th printing.

Co-Creator, Executive Producer and Creative Director Erik Wiese is an Emmy and Annie-nominated storyboard artist and writer who worked on SpongeBob SquarePants for four seasons. Wiese’s other credits include The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Danny Phantom, Samurai Jack, Sammy and the animated Bjork music video “I Miss You.”

The Mighty B! is produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, Calif.
