Otakon 2009: Bandai Industry Panel

Bandai did not have any announcements at their panel this year as “Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens” was announced prior to the convention. They did confirm that there will be a theatrical release of the Eureka 7 movie to a total of 432 screens nationwide through Fathom Events on September 24, 2009. They also confirmed a DVD and Blu-Ray release of “Kurokami”.

The director of “Kannagi”, Yutaka Yamamoto, was in attendance at the panel and took question from the audience, as well as participating in the Confessions game where audience members confessed to things, real or fake, in exchange for “Lucky Star” tshirts. He confessed to buying a “Giant Robo” action figure in the dealer’s room, preferring to date someone not involved with his work and to several other things. He would also like to work with Masao Maruyama of Studio Madhouse at some point in the future.
