Andrew Stanton on Influences, Biblical and Otherwise, on "WALL-E"

Christianity Today has posted an interview with WALL-E director Andrew Stanton, directly addressing some of the biblical references and inspirations that made their way into the movie, as well as discussing how Stanton’s faith was expressed in the film. Among other things, Stanton discusses how female lead robot EVE’s name was not an accident and his feelings on “message movies” whether religious or not. (via Cartoon Brew)

Elsewhere, Newsarama has posted the first part of an article covering a conference call with Stanton and Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter, where they discuss many of the influences on WALL-E. (UPDATED July 4, 2008: Part two of the call coverage has been posted.)
