Wired Interviews Nina Paley on "Sita Sings the Blues"

Wired magazine has interviewed independent animator Nina Paley about her new film, Sita Sings the Blues, which debuts this weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival. The movie tells the parallel tales of the ancient Hindu epic The Ramayana and the modern-day breakup of Paley’s own marriage, and is the first feature-length computer-animated film rendered entirely by a single animator working out of a home office. In the interview, Paley discusses the technical details behind the film, the roots of the project in her own life, and the kinds of criticisms that she has received about the movie from people who haven’t seen it yet.

On her weblog, Paley also announced that she will be on the NBC reality show My First Time on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 7:00 PM on the New York WNBC affiliate. The episode will follow Paley and two other first-time filmmakers with films premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival.
