by on April 22, 2008

South Park animation director Eric Stough will advise students in two film studies classes later this month at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the university says.

Stough, who graduated from the college’s film studies program in 1996, will talk to and review the work of students in the “Animation Production” and “Experimental Digital Animation” classes on April 28, April 30, and May 1.

Stough has won two Emmy awards for his work on South Park. He is reportedly the inspiration for the character of Butters.

Separately, the 12th Annual Marc Davis Celebration of Animation will be held on May 9, 2008, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles, according to Cartoon Brew. The topic “Drawing on the Future: Mentorship in Animation” will be discussed by Pixar’s Pete Docter and Disney’s James Baxter, Andreas Deja, and Eric Goldberg.
