Church Groups Trying to Push Russian Cartoon Channel Off the Air

by onMarch 13, 2008

An advisory council representing Russian Protestant churches has asked the government’s Prosecutor General’s Office to revoke the broadcast license for the adult-oriented cartoon channel 2×2, RIA Novosti reports.

The churches have also asked the government to ban such cartoons as Battle Vixens, Beavis and Butthead, Angry Kid and South Park for promoting violence, “moral imbecility,” vulgarity, homosexuality and pedophilia.

The channel earlier this year pulled Happy Tree Friends and The Adventures of Big Jeff from the air after a watchdog group complained about their violence.
