"Ratatouille" Scores Five Oscar Nominations
Brad Bird’s Ratatouille will compete for five Oscars in this year’s Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Writing (Original Screenplay). Nominations for the 80th Annual Academy Awards were announced this morning.
In the Animated Feature category, Ratatouille will be competing with Persepolis and Surf’s Up. The Pixar film has also been nominated in the Music (Score), Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing departments.
In the latter two categories it will in competition with Transformers, which received a third nomination for Visual Effects.
Enchanted captured three of the five Best Song nominations with “Happy Working Song,” “So Close,” and “That’s How You Know.”
The five nominees for Short Film (Animated) are “I Met the Walrus,” “Madame Tutli-Putli,” “Meme Les Pigeons Vont au Paradis,” “My Love,” and “Peter & the Wolf.”
The Oscars will be awarded at a ceremony scheduled for February 24, 2008, although the on-going Writer’s Guild strike may impact the ceremony itself and plans to televise it.
