Steven Spielberg on "Transformers" Sequels and "Tintin"

by on October 10, 2007

ComingSoon.net was able to speak with director Steven Spielberg on the set of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and had a chance to speak to him about several of his other film projects. Regarding sequels to the summer hit Transformers movie, Spielberg stated that lead actor Shia LaBeouf is signed for multiple Transformers movies, and that production of the second one will depend on the outcome of a pending strike by the Writers Guild of America.

Spielberg also briefly discussed the Tintin trilogy of movies which he is working on with Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson. Current plans are for Spielberg to direct the second movie, shooting it in the United States, and for the two men to co-direct the third movie unless another director is hired. The Tintin trilogy will be based on the graphic novels of Belgian artist Hergé (Georges Remi) and will use a motion-capture animation process similar to that used by Jackson in Lord of the Rings and King Kong.
