Initially released theatrically in 1977 to much acclaim, The New York Times raved, “Three cheers For ‘Winnie The Pooh’!” and it is the first animated feature based on the award-winning books by A.A. Milne. “Pooh” creator Milne found literary inspiration from wife Daphne and son Christopher Robin. He named the lovable bear after Winnie, a bear at the London Zoo, and based the illustration on his son’s stuffed animal bear. Milne’s first two books were illustrated by E.H. Shepard.
