Getting the Kitchen Craft Right in "Ratatouille"

The New York Times‘ Dining and Wine section has taken a look behind the scenes at Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouille (registration required), detailing how the crew of the movie were compelled to observe and eat at many fine French restaurants and work with French Laundry chef Thomas Keller to get the food preparation right for the movie. The article notes some of the challenges in rendering food well in CGI animation, and also how the animators studied Keller and Pixar’s Michael Warch as they created dishes in the Pixar kitchens.
