FANTASTIC FOUR: WORLD’S GREATEST HEROES
Based on Marvel’s Legendary Super Hero Team, Series Debuts Worldwide on June 9, 2007 During Popular Toonami Block
NEW YORK – Marvel’s fantastic first family of Super Heroes storms to television this summer as the eagerly anticipated action-packed animated series Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes premieres worldwide as a weekly series on the Cartoon Network on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 9:30pm during the popular Toonami block.
Based on Marvel’s legendary Super Hero team, Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes follows a successful four-episode teaser that garnered stellar ratings in September 2006. The series – featuring revolutionary animation that pits the cosmically-altered crusaders against some of the world’s most dangerous evildoers – debuts just before the ever-popular franchise returns to the big screen with Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Studios’ live-action summer blockbuster, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which hits theaters on June 15, 2007.
The broadcast commitment for the animated series on Cartoon Network is 26 half-hour episodes. The animated series will help to drive consistent, high-profile exposure and excitement for the Fantastic Four franchise worldwide. The continuation of media beyond the feature films, film DVD releases and video game release is expected to benefit future licensing and publishing efforts and toy-lines based on the Fantastic Four franchise.
Co-produced by Moonscoop, M6, Cartoon Network Europe and Marvel Studios, the Fantastic Four animated series combines a dynamic mix of 2D and 3D animation. Based upon the classic storylines, this series follows the high-energy adventures of one of the comic book world’s most prominent crime-fighting teams – Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and The Thing – as they battle villains and their ultimate rival, Dr. Doom.
“This is a breakout year for the Fantastic Four franchise, with the June 9 launch of the animated series on Cartoon Network, the live action feature film sequel, the Hasbro toy line, the 2k video game, a re-release of the first theatrical film on DVD and the release of the animated series on DVD from Fox Home Entertainment,” said Eric Rollman, Marvel Studios Executive Vice President, Animation and Television. “Cartoon Network is a great home for our show and their commitment to its success will further Marvel’s mission to drive consistent, high-profile exposure and excitement for the Fantastic Four franchise.
Craig Kyle, Marvel Studios Senior Vice President, Animation Development, added: “The creative team behind this series is outstanding and have produced a beautifully designed, fun and engaging series.”
