Iran Protests "Persepolis" Screening at Cannes Film Festival

The Iranian Farabi Cinema Foundation has sent a letter of protest to the French Embassy in Tehran over the screening of the animated movie Persepolis at the Cannes Film Festival. The government-affiliated organization claimed that the movie, “has presented an unrealistic face of the achievements and results of the glorious Islamic Revolution in some of its parts,” and stated that the film’s selection at Cannes had to be a political or anti-cultural act. The movie is an animated adaptation of the autobiographical graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi about her childhood in Iran during the Islamic Revolution.
