Disney-ABC Television Group Announces 2007-08 Kids Programming Plans
Disney-ABC Television Group held its annual upfront presentation on Thursday, February 8. Several new movies and series were announced across the Disney-ABC TV networks, and several previously announced renewals were confirmed.
Among the Disney Channel announcements were several live-action additions/renewals on the channel, as well as new additions to the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise — including Franklin B.C, a CG-animated fish out-of-water comedy that follows Franklin, the smartest kid at school, who happens to be a prehistoric caveman learning to acclimate in his new surroundings.
Joining Playhouse Disney in May is My Friends Tigger & Pooh, starring classic A.A. Milne characters Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, and Rabbit, plus Lumpy and their new neighbor in the Hundred Acre Wood, an adorable six-year-old girl named Darby and her puppy, Buster. The series is a production of Walt Disney Television Animation.
Also coming to Playhouse Disney in the fall of 2007 is the original series Bunny Town, a puppet comedy featuring stories set in a busy world of song, dance and laughter, a world populated by the Funny Bunnies.
On the Toon Disney front, the network will add the Disney Channel comedy series The Replacements to its lineup. Other additions to the lineup include the fourth season (21 new episodes) of the adventure/comedy Kim Possible, and the second season (26 new episodes) of Yin Yang Yo, airing on Jetix. In addition, Toon Disney’s “Big Movie Show” will include the basic cable premiere of Finding Nemo and Monsters, Inc.
No animation news was announced for ABC Kids.
