CN Upfront: New Afterschool Block and Fridays Block in 2007-UPDATED
Cartoon Network in September 2007 will launch a new after-school block to be called Master Control, the network says. The block’s web site will include a game, and players can choose one of four teams. Each week the team with the most voters will be able to manipulate the schedule for that week by choosing from a selection of potentially four to six Cartoon network comedy shows. The team’s logo will appear during the block. CN’s Michael Ouweleen said that comedy is “what kids want when they come home.”
The network will also start a new Friday night primetime block to be called Fried Dynomite, which will feature new kid hosts and a new set.
Toonami will continue to run on Saturday nights.
The information comes from a preview Cartoon Network has posted of their upfront presentation, to take place tomorrow morning in New York, on their Web site. Master Control will take over afternoons from CN’s current after-school block Miguzi, although no mention was made of the latter’s current Friday night bloc of programming.
