YouTube Heads Will Meet With JASRAC Feb. 5

Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, the CEO and CTO at YouTube, will fly to Japan Feb. 5 to meet with the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers and discuss permanently banning repeat uploaders of copyrighted content. JASRAC, which represents Japanese copyright holders, demanded YouTube take more extensive action in a letter to the Google-owned company in December. JASRAC has been zealous, some say overly so, in fighting copyright violations on the Web site, but notes that copyrighted content simply reappears after it has been taken down.
