"YeuWooBi," Possible Ghibli Competitor, Out in Korea Thursday
YeuWooBi, a new animated feature from director Lee Seong-gang, arrives in South Korean theaters Thursday. The JoongAng Daily article reflects just how much the Korean animation industry has riding on the success of this film.
The film follows a shapeshifting, mythical fox who takes on the form of a young girl. The Miyazaki comparisons are already flying like river spirits, and a quick look at the official site with its impressive trailer reveals why. The new movie promises more action than Lee’s previous work, My Beautiful Girl, Mari. As far as Toon Zone News can tell, no international screenings are yet planned.
